FAQ  ABOUT PREPARATION FOR MSU 2010
This set of Q&A is to prepare you for MSU 2010

What is MSU 2010?
MSU stands for Mitrovica Summer University 2010. It is a Summer University event and it’s taking place in Mitrovica (North).

When will MSU 2010 start?
MSU 2010 starts on Saturday, 17th of July. The arrival in Mitrovica and coordination day is Friday, 16th of July. The Summer University will last till Friday, 30 July while the departure day is Saturday, 31st July.

What is SEE?
SEE stand for South East Europe. This term is usually used regarding students who are coming from countries within this region.
How many courses do we have this year?
This year we’ll have a total of 6 courses. The list goes:

•    Cultural Heritage
•    Slavistic Studies
•    Diplomacy and Communication
•    European Integrations and Western Balkans
•    Marketing in Digital Age
•    Sustainable Architecture

What is the weather like?
The weather is continental, so summers are usually very hot with temperatures going up to 30 degrees of  Celsius.  Nights can be a bit colder so take your some sweaters and jackets too.

What are the additional events (cultural events, sports events, field trips, concerts) the Mitrovica Summer University offer?
Mitrovica Summer University offers a variety of events! Starting with field trips to Monasteries of Visoki Decani and patriarchy of  Pec dating from 14th and 13th century. These are all one day trips happening during the weekend. It is optional to participate in this and fees are around 2 euros per trip for each student. Cultural events are also organized as well as sports activities (football, basketball, gym etc.)

Were will the students be accommodated? Where will they eat? Is there a vegetarian meal option available?
For the past three years students were accommodated in hotels and private dormitories. It seems that this year won’t be any different from last three. Food will be served in one of the hotels. Vegetarian meals will be provided!

What’s the most recommendable travel option when traveling to Kosovska Mitrovica from Belgrade? What when traveling from Skopje? (train, bus)?
All confirmed students will receive a Travel instruction mail with all necessary information about traveling to and from Kosovska Mitrovica.

Who can apply for scholarship and what is covered by scholarship?
Students from South East Europe can apply for scholarship. Scholarship includes reimbursement for travel expenses – look for prices in the Information Participants Guide 2010 – accommodation, food, lectures and classes are tuition free.
Students from EU and outside can not apply for scholarship but lectures and classes are tuition free for them as well.

Can I take more then one course? Can I drop and add courses during the Summer University?
You can apply for 3 courses, but you will only be chosen for one. Classes start at 9:00 and end at 14:00. Once you have been chosen for one course you can not drop and change courses!

Will I get transcript certificate/credits?
You will get a certificate at the Closing Ceremony which will be worth 3 ECTS points. This is on the condition that you’ve been present at 80% of your classes and pass the exam.

Is health insurance covered by the course fee/scholarship?
Health insurance is not covered by SPARK and we advise you to take a very good care of your health before and during MSU 2010!
